Builder Compared fairly
GoDaddy Website Builder gets an agency online. It does not get an agency found
A builder bundled with the domain you already own is the fastest way to stop having no website, and for an agency in its first months that is a reasonable trade. It is not built to carry a page for every line you write, rank in the towns you serve, or stay accurate while you are busy writing business, and those are the jobs an established agency site has.
A fine placeholder while you decide. A poor asset once you are serious.

01
What bundling gets you
One bill, the domain and the site in the same account, a handful of sections, and something presentable in an afternoon. For a new agent who needs an address to put on a business card, that is genuinely useful and costs very little.
02
Why a placeholder stops working
The prospect comparing three agencies notices thin pages before they notice anything else. A page that says "we offer commercial insurance" answers nothing, ranks for nothing and gives a producer nothing to work with when the form finally arrives with a name and a phone number in it.
03
What actually generates quote requests
A page that answers the question the prospect typed, a finder that asks two or three plain questions instead of twenty fields, a phone number and a producer attached to the town they searched from, and pages that open before the doubt sets in. That is structure and content, not sections.
04
Keep the domain, change everything else
Your domain is yours and stays yours: you point it at the new site, every old address that mattered gets redirected, and the registrar relationship is a separate question we are happy to leave alone.
Side by side Twelve axes
GoDaddy builder and a managed studio site, line by line
The same twelve axes on every comparison page, so the answers can be read against each other. Nothing in the left column is stated as fact about a specific plan or price; where a claim needs a source, it is cited at the foot of this page.
| What you are comparing | GoDaddy builder | InsuranceWebStudio |
|---|---|---|
| Speed and Core Web VitalsHow quickly a page appears on a phone with weak signal. | Template-driven pages with the usual builder weight. | Static pages, minimal JavaScript, guaranteed on every page we build and host. |
| SEO controlWhether titles, URLs, headings and internal links can be set properly. | Basic fields, and no structure beneath them. | Deliberate per-page targeting, headings, internal links and generated sitemaps. |
| Schema and JSON-LDStructured data that tells search engines what each page is. | Minimal. | Organization, LocalBusiness per office, Service per line, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, generated from your data. |
| AEO and GEO readinessBeing the extracted answer, and being readable by AI assistants. | Short section copy gives an answer engine nothing to extract. | Answer-first sections, visible FAQs, llms.txt and consistent naming so assistants can read and cite the site. |
| Hosting and securityWhere it runs, who patches it, who watches it. | Bundled with the subscription. | Cloudflare hosting, SSL, backups, headers, monitoring, with a speed guarantee attached. |
| Maintenance burdenWhat lands on somebody at the agency every month. | You, whenever you remember. | Us, every week, from an email. |
| Who does the workWhose hours go into the site after launch. | Whoever set it up, usually once. | A studio that only builds insurance agency sites. |
| Content and blogWho writes the articles, and how often. | Little, and nobody to write it. | Researched, cited articles every week. |
| Design qualityWhether the site reads as a designed thing or an assembled one. | Sections that look like sections. | A brand system your prospects read as a real practice. |
| Accessibility and compliance pagesPolicy pages, consent, disclaimers, readable contrast. | Generic pages if any. | Policy pages, consent that gates scripts, accessibility and required insurance disclaimers. |
| Cost modelWhat you pay, when, and what is bundled. | Very low subscription, very low return once you need more. | One monthly fee with everything inside it, build fee after launch. |
| Ownership and lock-inWhose domain, whose words, and what leaving looks like. | The domain is yours; the site is not portable. | Domain and content yours, exported within 14 days if you leave. |
Be honest
When GoDaddy Website Builder is the better answer
- You launched last monthSpend the money on getting appointed and writing business. Come back when the site is the bottleneck.
- You need an address on a card todayA single page with your name, your lines and a phone number is a fine first step.
- You are testing a second brandFor a short-lived experiment, a cheap builder page is the right size of commitment.
And when not
When a managed studio site wins for an agency
- Prospects are comparing you with better-presented agenciesA placeholder loses that comparison before anyone reads a word.
- You write more than a couple of linesEach one deserves a page that can answer and rank.
- You want quote requests that arrive usableTagged by line, routed to a producer, landing in your management system rather than an inbox.
Together Switching, and running both
How the two fit, and how a switch actually runs
- 01
Your registrar is your business
Keep the domain where it is and point it at the new site, or move it: either works. If you have no domain, we register one in your name at no cost for as long as the plan runs.
- 02
What we do with the old pages
Anything with traffic gets a 301 to its closest new page, working titles are preserved, and the rest is retired cleanly so nothing 404s in front of a prospect.

Agencies who made this decision
What changed after the move, from real agency and broker staff, in their own words.
Page migration and redirect mapping for commercial coverage reviews
Everyone talks about the new design; I cared more about where the old commercial coverage reviews links would land. We reviewed the full redirect map before launch and checked the destinations ourselves. I could share the new site knowing the old links had been taken seriously.

Our deliberately awkward question was: what if the commercial coverage reviews form breaks? They added a clear alternative contact route and verified that test messages reach the right inbox. Hoping the form never breaks is no longer the strategy.

Questions about GoDaddy builder and a managed site
Do we have to move our domain to work with you?
No. Point the domain you have at the new site and keep your registrar. If you would rather we handle it, we can register or manage one in your name at no cost while the plan runs.
Our builder site ranks for our agency name. Will we lose that?
No. Name searches follow the domain, and the new site is stronger on every other signal: speed, structure, local pages and a weekly article cadence.
Can we start small with you?
The first plan is the whole website, fully managed, at the lowest monthly fee, with the build fee invoiced only after launch. There is no thinner version, because a thin site is the problem we are fixing.
How long does it take?
Seven days from the onboarding call on the first plan. Ten and fifteen days on the plans that add the AI Engine and the Content Engine.
What do you need from us?
Your lines, carriers, offices, producers, the management system quote requests should land in, and any brand assets you already have. Anything missing can follow later.
Is there a build fee?
There is a one-time build fee, and it is invoiced only after your site is live and you have approved it. Never before.
What if we already paid for a year of the builder?
Let it run out. Your current site stays live until the domain switches, so there is no gap and no wasted month.
Who writes the coverage pages?
We do, from your onboarding answers, and we correct them within the week whenever your book changes.
